(BOISE, Idaho) -- Police arrested 44 individuals on Monday after they blocked the doors to the Senate Chambers at the Idaho State Capitol on Monday.
Idaho State Police learned of the protesters' plan to block the doors at about 8:13 a.m. on Monday. When troopers responded to the Capitol, they found the 44 individuals blocking three separate entrances to the Senate floor.
The protesters were informed that if they did not move, they would be arrested for trespassing, the Idaho State Police said. A representative of the protesters informed the ISP that they would not move and wanted to be arrested as a form of civil disobedience.
All 44, including three juveniles, were cited for trespassing and later released. A trespassing citation is punishable by up to six months in jail, a fine of between $25 and $1,000, or both.
