(COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho) -- A Kingston doctor was indicted on charges of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, officials announced Monday.
Dr. Rafael Beier was arrested on June 19 at his place of work and remains in federal custody, pending a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
If convicted, the 60-year-old faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million.
