(BOISE, Idaho) -- Idaho's long-term job growth is projected to exceed that of the nation, Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter announced Monday.

The predictions by the Idaho Department of Labor anticipate annual job growth of 1.5 percent between 2012 and 2022, which is more than twice the rate experienced between 2002 and 2012, and half a percentage point higher than the projected growth figures for the rest of the country.

The forecast calls for an increase of 109,000 jobs to 781,000 in 2022.

Construction, health care, leisure and hospitality, and retail trade are expected to be the fastest growing sectors of the state's economy, expanding by annual rates of 2 percent or more. The construction sector was the hardest hit by the recession, according to officials.
