(BOISE, Idaho) -- Peter Covino IV, 20, was convicted of obstruction of justice in Florida on Thursday, the Idaho Statesmen reports.
His uncle, Ammon Covino, allegedly transported wildlife from the Florida Keys to Idaho for Boise's Idaho Aquarium exhibit. In February, Ammon Covino was arrested and charged in Boise federal court with illegally purchasing Florida marine life “for captive display.”
The day after Ammon Covino's arrest, federal agents recorded phone calls between Ammon Covino and his nephew, Peter Covino, in which the men attempted to cover up evidence, according to the Idaho Statesmen.
Peter Covino's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 24 in Key West.
