(BOISE, Idaho) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, along with other federal organizations, are investigating possible radioactive and hazardous materials contamination at an apartment complex near downtown Boise, officials announced Tuesday.
The probe comes after local hazmat teams responded to a suspicious substance found in an apartment last week. It is unclear what materials are in question.
The substance, which was being shipped, did not pose an immediate threat to public health or safety, according to officials. It was found not to be illegal, but it may have to be regulated, according to Boise Police.
Federal and state agencies said they are examining the inside of the apartment "to better understand the nature and extent of any contamination."
