(BOISE, Idaho) -- A 21-year-old Boise man was arrested late Saturday night after a series of traffic stops.
According to the Boise Police Department, a patrol officer who had stopped a vehicle for a signal violation was nearly struck by a second vehicle that drove by the scene. The officer watched as the second vehicle ran a stop sign and nearly struck a pedestrian a short distance away.
The officer returned to his cruiser and made a second traffic stop on the driver of that vehicle, at which point a third vehicle pulled into a nearby parking lot, cursed at the officer and tried to drive away.
On his way away from the scene, the driver of the third car narrowly avoided a collision with another vehicle and ran a red light.
Officers were able to catch up with the third driver, stopping him a few blocks from the scene. A police K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a search turned up a concealed machete and a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police arrested Joshua Balderas, 21, on charges including possession of methamphetamine, carrying a concealed weapon without a license, reckless driving, resisting and obstructing officers, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The second driver, later identified as Victor Balderas, 18, was also arrested for reckless driving.
