(BOISE, Idaho) -- Spraying for mosquitoes has begun in Canyon County after mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile virus at three locations within the county.
According to the Idaho Statesman, crews were spraying after the virus was confirmed in mosquitoes near U.S. Route 20/26 and Farmway Road, near Roswell Marsh off of Idaho Route 18, and at the Peckham Road and Arena Valley Road area west of Wilder, Idaho.
West Nile virus had previously been confirmed in mosquitoes in Gem and Payette counties earlier this year, according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
Residents are urged to avoid mosquitoes during dusk and dawn, drain all standing water, use mosquito repellant and cover exposed skin.
