(BOISE, Idaho) -- Police arrested a 37-year-old man after he punched an officer in the face.
A Boise Police officer responded to a call of a fight in progress Saturday morning at the intersection of South Phillippi Street and West Overland Road. One particular man seemed to be instigating the incident, according to a citizen.
The responding officer matched the description given and while she was attempting to speak with the suspect, identified as Robert G. Watford, he ran toward her "without warning" and hit her several times in the face and head.
Watford refused commands to stop coming toward the officer, according to police reports. As a witness attempted to intervene to help, Watford turned on the individual. The officer used her Taser in response and took him into custody.
The policewoman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for head injuries.
Watford was charged with battery on an officer and resisting and obstructing. He was booked into the Ada County Jail.
