Police: Man Arrested After Caught Driving Wrong Way, Drunk

(BOISE, Idaho) -- A Nampa man was arrested early Thursday after he was allegedly caught driving drunk in the wrong direction along a Boise street.

Police said around 2 a.m. a vehicle was spotted driving the wrong way on Sixth Street near Grove Street, with officers then determining that the driver, Douglas Wells, Jr., allegedly appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Police said Wells failed several field sobriety tests.

The suspect reportedly had prior DUI convictions and as a result was charged with felony DUI in this instance.

Volunteers Paint US Army Veteran’s Home

(BOISE, Idaho) -- Volunteers from the Benjamin Moore Color Care Across America team and Mayor Bieter will give U.S. Army veteran Nicolas DeNinno a full interior paint makeover on Monday, Oct. 29.

The painting is expected to be completed on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

DeNinno was chosen for the makeover because he served over a year in Iraq as an E-Specialist with the U.S. Army and helped to improve the community, halting violence in the area.

Southwest Airlines to Stop Flights from Boise-Portland

(BOISE, Idaho) -- Flights between Boise and Portland offered by Southwest Airlines will stop service on April 13, 2013, according to the Idaho Statesman.

The announcement came on Wednesday by Patti Miller, a spokeswoman for the Boise Airport, who said the cancellation is due to low passenger count.

Miller added that Alaska Airlines will still offer five Boise-Portland Flights each day.

Boise Man Cited as Two Injured in Crash

(BOISE, Idaho) -- A Boise man was cited for following too close and for driving without privileges following a vehicular crash on Thursday evening, which left two people injured.

According to Idaho State Police, the crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on Interstate 184 near the Garden City exit. Officials said a 2008 Nissan Xterra was driving on the exit ramp, when the driver slowed for traffic ahead and the SUV was struck from behind by a 1991 Honda Civic driven by 26-year-old Collin McCurdy.

Two passengers from the Civic were taken to  St. Luke's Boise Medical Center with unknown injuries. McCurdy was cited for the violations.

Halloween Party Stabbing Sends Man to Hospital

(CALDWELL, Idaho) -- Caldwell police are searching for information related to the stabbing of a man at a Halloween party Sunday.

According to the Idaho Press-Tribune, around 2:30 a.m. police were called to a home on Belmont Street where a 24-year-old man had been stabbed twice during a party.

The man was treated at a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Police have yet to find out who stabbed him or why.

Meridian Man Arrested After Leading Officers on Chase

(BOISE, Idaho) -- A Meridian man has been arrested after leading officers on a chase in Boise on Sunday.

Boise Police said they were called to a home in East Boise around 5 p.m. on a report of a fight. Responding officers reportedly spotted the suspect Bryce Tremblay, 38, allegedly attempting to leave the scene, with the suspect refusing to stop for officers.

After performing a PIT Maneuver to stop Tremblay in the area of East Grand Forest Drive and Highway 21, police said they had to fire a 40 mm foam round and use a Taser device to help take the suspect into custody.

Tremblay is charged with eluding, resisting and obstructing, and assault, among other charges.

Man Allegedly Caught Stealing Meds from Local Pharmacy

(BOISE, Idaho) -- A 22-year-old man was arrested by Boise Police on Friday night after he was allegedly caught in the act stealing medication from a local pharmacy.

According to a statement from Boise Police, officers were dispatched to a pharmacy on the 100 block of East Bannock on a report of a theft in progress. Security guards at the pharmacy told officers they discovered the suspect stealing medication and then detained the suspect until police arrived.

Police said they recovered three prescription medication bottles containing more than 100 prescription pills for Dronabinol and Marinol.

Brian Plant Jr., 22, was arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft.

Gov. Otter and First Lady Invite Idaho Families to Halloween Event

(BOISE, Idaho) -- Gov. C. L. "Butch" Otter and First Lady Lori Otter are inviting Idaho families with children to a free "Trick or Treat" Halloween event on the front steps of the Idaho Statehouse on Wednesday.

During the event, the governor and first lady will hand out Halloween candy donated by the Wal-Mart in Meridian and other treats donated by the Red Cross and the Idaho State Dental Association. A costume contest will take place at 5:30 p.m., and prizes will be awarded in the categories of Most Creative, Idaho Historical Figure and Book or Movie Character. Age categories include children 1 to 6 years of age and children 7 to 14 years.

The event will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the State Capitol, located at 700 W. Jefferson St. in downtown Boise.

DOJ Names Idaho District Election Officers

(BOISE, Idaho) -- The Justice Department has named Assistant U.S. Attorneys George Breitsameter and Nancy Cook as the District Election Officers for Idaho as part of the department's Election Day program for next week's general election.

As District Election Officers, Breitsameter and Cook will be responsible for overseeing how the district handles complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses.

"Every citizen must be able to vote without interference or discrimination and to have that vote counted without it being stolen because of fraud," U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson said in a statement. "The Department of Justice will act promptly and aggressively to protect the integrity of the election process."

Officers Search for Highway-Rail Intersection Violators

(BOISE, Idaho) -- In an effort to minimize the occurrence of car-train collisions, county and state law enforcement officers will be conducting an operation titled "Officer On A Train" in southeast Idaho on Friday.

According to an Idaho State Police news release, the operation will see a law enforcement officer being positioned in the lead locomotive of a train, where the officer will observe traffic approaching highway-rail intersections as the train approaches.

If a motorist is spotted violating the laws pertaining to the approaching intersection, the officer on the train will then radio an officer in a nearby patrol vehicle, who will conduct a traffic stop on the violating motorist, explain the dangers and issue a citation.

Boise Man Gets Two Years in Prison for Gun Charge

(BOISE, Idaho) -- A Boise man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after being caught in possession of a stolen firearm.

Anthony Alex Howard, 23, was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty in July to a charge of unlawfully possessing a firearm.

Authorities said Howard stole the firearm from the home of an associate who was at the time serving on a tour in Iraq.

Boise Cops Recover Stolen Vehicle, Suspect Arrested

(BOISE) -- Three days after it was reported stolen, a vehicle was recovered by Boise Police on Wednesday night and a suspect has been arrested in connection.

Police said the vehicle, which was reported stolen from a residence on Sunday, was spotted in a parking lot near South 10th and West Miller Street around 11 p.m. Suspect Marshall McCully, who is known to the victim, was spotted as well.

Police arrested McCully, charging him with grand theft of a vehicle and providing false information.

Police Ask for Public’s Help to Find $45K Ring

(BOISE, Idaho) -- Boise Police are looking for a ring from an airport area business, valued at $45,000. Investigators are still determining if the ring was lost or stolen.

The ring was last seen on Oct. 21 at an aviation business on S. Orchard St., which is southwest of the Boise Airport.

Under Idaho law, a person holding lost property may be charged with theft.

Alleged Drunken California Driver Held After Brief Chase in Idaho

(BOISE, Idaho) -- Police in Boise, Idaho say a drunk California man took them on a chase early Friday morning before the suspect was eventually caught and charged.

Police said they spotted a vehicle parked in front of a Boise liquor store around 1 a.m. and when officers approached to investigate, the vehicle immediately left the parking lot, driving to a nearby car wash where it came to a stop. A police report states that as officers approached the vehicle again it drove away, with officers chasing on foot.

After a short pursuit, police said the vehicle was evenutally stopped when it became boxed-in by two patrol cars at another parking lot.

Police said driver, Jonathan Solorzano, 25, of Lancaster, Calif., was found to be intoxicated and failed several field sobriety tests. Solorzano has been charged with driving under the influence, eluding and driving without privileges.
